IMPORTANT Application Details: This Mesh lower grille is for the 2004 – 2007 (approx.) facelift Jaguar S-Type.
Important Notes for the Upper Grille: This mesh insert is for the model that received the facelift in 2004; this model can be easily distinguished by its slightly smaller grille. If you look at the images shown above, you can see that the vertical measurement from inside the grille frame below the badge to the inside of the grille frame at the bottom of the grille is approx 280mm. Also this model usually has a badge with the Jaguars face within a circular badge with the word JAGUAR at the bottom of the badge in small text.
(Whereas the pre-facelift model had a vertical measurement of approx. 300mm, so this mesh will not fit. And usually this earlier model has just the jaguars face without the circular badge and the word JAGUAR as the 6th image).
Important Notes for the Lower Grille: This insert is for the S-Type model from approx. 2004 to approx. 2007. Check that your model has the same bumper as the one shown in our pictures. It has a rectangular opening approx. 580mm wide by 135mm high underneath the number plate.
As well as looking fantastic this Lower Grille prevents stones & other road debris from flying through the open air intake in your bumper and causing (often expensive) damage to your radiator & engine components.
Fitting of the Upper Grille: It comes with full, easy to follow fitting instructions complete with numerous helpful fitting photographs. This sale is for the mesh insert only (it is designed to fit behind your existing grille frame surround). The mesh insert is pre-cut to the exact size. It is then pressed & formed to create the convexed shape that gives the grille its classic curved profile. You need to remove the existing plastic fins as explained & shown in the supplied fitting instructions. The job takes little over an hour.
Fitting of Lower Grille: To fit this grille you need to remove front bumper. It comes with full, easy to follow fitting instructions complete with numerous helpful fitting photographs.
Mesh Quality: The mesh used for both grilles is premium quality woven stainless steel. For those with knowledge of stainless steel this is 316 grade, which is a very high quality grade stainless. This mesh is the same quality & thickness as Jaguar use for their own mesh grilles. This beautiful mesh will enhance & greatly improve your Jaguars appearance (thin poor quality mesh does the opposite and detracts from the cars appearance).
The mesh has also been Electropolished; this is the ultimate treatment that can be given to stainless steel; it makes the stainless steel permanently bright & reflective. And makes the job of cleaning the stainless much easier. All prestige car manufactures apply the electropolishing process to their stainless grilles because of its fabulous & long lasting results.
Electropolishing: Electropolishing is not electro-plating or chrome plating (both electro-plating & chrome plating actually deposit a coating on the surface of the metal, but as you probably know coatings or platings can be chipped off) Electropolishing is electro-plating in reverse. Instead of depositing a coating of another material on a surface, the action of electropolishing is to remove a surface layer, typically 20-40 micro-metres in depth in the case of stainless steel. The result is that the electropolished stainless steel surfaces become bright and highly reflective. This results from the removal of an often contaminated surface layer and the electrochemical action of micro-smoothing. The advantageous features resulting from such a bright and smooth surface are many. The passive oxide layer, which is essential to prevent stainless steel from corroding, cannot be improved upon following electropolishing. By reducing the total surface area, a result of micro-smoothing, particles and contamination are less likely to adhere to an electropolished finish. After electropolishing the surface if the stainless steel can be cleaned and kept clean more easily. The highly reflective bright finish is ideally suitable to exterior vehicle trim & grilles.
