This MX5 Grille is for the Mk1 model from year 1989-1998. (The model with pop-up head lights). This grille no longer has the Lockwood badge attached.

As you are aware, the MX5 is the world’s best selling convertible of all time but, when your MX5 Mk1 first came out of the factory, brand new, its radiator was totally unprotected, because the huge air-intake did not have a grille across it to protect the radiator. So a stone, thrown up by the car in front, could fly straight into it and cause hundreds of pounds worth of damage. And the radiators that escape being punctured can have their delicate cooling fins squashed by road debris.
